  4. The  EV Electric Vehicle Discussion Mailing List is  intended  to 
  5. provide  a  forum  to discuss the current state of  the  art  and 
  6. future  direction of electric vehicles.  It is *not* intended  to 
  7. discuss  either  EV  appropriateness or  comparisons  with  other 
  8. transportation primary drive modes such as the venerable internal 
  9. combustion engine.  Those "discussions" are best relegated to the 
  10. appropriate usenet newsgroup.

  12. An  electric vehicle is any vehicle which uses an electric  motor 
  13. as  the primary or sole motive force.  The energy storage  device 
  14. used  to drive said motor can use any technology  including,  but 
  15. not  limited  to,  solar  electric,  electric  battery,  internal 
  16. combustion  engine  coupled  with a electric  generator,  or  any 
  17. combination of these.  Production electric vehicles are currently 
  18. available.  Internal combustion engine vehicles can be  converted 
  19. to electric.  There exist a number of companies who perform this
  20. conversion.  There is also a number of manufacturers of equipment 
  21. allowing you to do-it-yourself.
